Sari Andoni (Palestinian Oud player):
I feel very privileged and honored to work and collaborate with A’lante Flamenco. Not
only do they have a deep knowledge of Flamenco music and dance, they provide an
important creative space for collaboration in the Austin music scene.
My collaboration with A’lante Flamenco started as they organized Ziryab Lounge, a
meeting space for local musicians to come present their diverse musical traditions with
the community. After the Ziryab Lounge sessions on Arabic music and Flamenco we
decided to combine the musical forms into creative blend of musical sound and dance.
We had very successful shows in Zilker Park and Carver Cultural Center as well as
Houston. The audience still send me praise on the unique combination of Arabic,
Flamenco, and Mexican Son Jarrocho music we performed in our last show in
November this year. None of these shows could have happened without the talent,
dedication and hard work A’lante Flamenco musicians and dancers put into their
projects.

I am writing to highly recommend the group A’lante Flamenco, with whom we recently
had the pleasure of collaborating on the program “Flamenco y Revolución,” at the invitation of Olivia
Chacón, their artistic director and choreographer, and Isaí Chacón, their musical director.
During this collaboration, it was a very pleasant, interesting, and motivating experience to witness their
great creativity, originality, and dedication to cultural and artistic work, as well as their profound respect,
consideration, and interest in the artistic work of their guests.
Olivia and Isaí Chacón are undoubtedly valuable assets to the artistic and cultural scene of Austin,
Texas, and I am convinced that their projects will be a valuable contribution to the diversity and social
inclusivity of our community.
